It occurs to me how the corrective shifts that have happened as a result of the coronavirus, which is an unintentioned consequence of the current growth-centric way of living in society, has arguably had much greater effects in shifting our behaviour and mindset than anything intentionally designed. This is interesting, because it seems to indicate that the environment is a much more powerful and efficacious actor than us. It occurs to me how our ability, as a whole collective species to actively design our way to a state that works better for planet and people is really so limited. People like you can write highly prescient articles and people like me can understand and be influenced by their content, but like you say, the centre of power is far from considering active design of a slowdown. I feel like the insight, for me, on a personal level, is to embrace humility about my level of influence in this conversation. This is prescencing the slowdown in myself, and makes me less fragile, as I live more within my own "environmental ceiling", do what I can, and trust the process.
