"Slow Down" by Danny Dorling really goes into this topic, looking at how population growth, gdp growth, etc are all set to slow down and actually start shrinking. He identifies women starting to have more power and choice, and choosing to have less children as one of the drivers. We just have one boy, we tried to have another kid but were a bit late so it didn't happen. The boy we have is the most amazing person I've ever met and becoming a dad the greatest privilege I've had in my life, he has changed me SO much. The environment is collapsing, and our civilization which it perches on will likely follow. I think we'll see a dramatic reduction in human population, not to put too finer point on it. But nothing lasts forever, we came from nature and everything thats happening is a natural process. But the process of having a child is still one of the most profound in life. Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water so to speak lol!
