So great Richard, these two pieces sing to me! I work in a public service context and it makes me think of intentionally repurposing the hierarchical structure. I had all my perception focused on the triangle or the circle in a ‘how the org chart looks’ way, but I have a feeling we can empower more people more quickly by shifting focus to power dynamics. What an insight!
Also reading ‘the culture code’ and loving the elegant simplicity of that: although Greg Poppavich will lose his cool at some of his Spurs he creates such a culture of belonging with constant stream of cues that you are safe, you belong, we have a shared future, so the mana is still sustained within the group even when emotions run high and people have ‘unskilful moments’.
